One of the rare times I have no kittens
running about , scattering toys and litter and food :- )
When a New Mama with kittens comes into the house, she wants privacy. She gets
a cage.
I leave the door open for Mama and Kittens to come out as kits get a bit older.
Mama comes out daily, when she asks to.
The large doorway on left goes to my office, see below.
Notice; lots of natural light,
|
This was my office
in 2001.
Where Kittens Frolic around my feet and on
my lap as I work at my desk.
|
This is also where People come to play with my kittens
when choosing one
to take home .
|
|
All kittens are kept inside my home until sold or until they start to breed.
Over 800 sq ft of the lower level of our home is dedicated to pampering kittens. If you look at some of the adult and kitten photos
elsewhere on my web site, you will see ceramic tile on the floor, or burgundy sofa, or Oak cabinets in the background. These are in the upper level of our home. You will never find a cat hair up there :-)
The Futon is where I sleep when someone needs night watch, like an F1 in the cage giving birth.
**Or when Geoff is gone and I can let the babies sleep with me :-)**
The wall has some of my show ribbons and photos of ALC, F1 and SBT.
The floor ( unfinished cement, will be finished after it cures another year) has washable rugs, kittens learn to scratch on this, and toys.
Lots of toys, like a bucket to climb in and out of, Carrying crates to play hide and seek, and the regular lot of balls and spring toys.
This is where potential customers come and sit and play with the kittens and talk about their care. Often we visit for 2 hours or more.

Housing for Trendar Adult Bengals
12" white fiberglass around inside
and outside of fence to help prevent climbing.
12 inches is not enough to keep in cats who want out.
It should have been 18 inches around the top.
We have added braces to make the bottom of the fiberglass making it
stand out 6 inches from the fence.
this works... except in corners where the cat can get onto the step and jump to the top :-)
Only two do this, and both are lovers so come running to me when I call them.
My spoiled cats, they do not go further than my doorway,
and most come running when called :-)

Kittens or small cats could get
out through water / food bowl areas

|
Spacious cages ( appx 10 square feet floor space plus shelf and / or hammock)
Each cat has free access doors to outside play areas.
Outside areas are 40 inches wide by 5 foot deep and 5 foot tall,
with 40 inch by 24 inch shelf across the back.
This gives each cat room for the large hooded litter dishes and
room to fun jump and play.
Inside Thick recycled plastic grating makes a cool comfortable floor to lay on in Summer.
In winter they have warm beds that are washed regularly.
In winter the cages also have a hammock for sleeping off the floor.
Floor Grating lets spilled food, hair and litter fall through, making the bedroom virtually self cleaning.
The place mat in front helps catch spilled dry food.
Some Bengals like to play with their food before eating
it.
Cats are given turns to run around the inside of the buildings the doors have PVC
or Stainless food and water bowls, easy
to clean from outside the cage.
|

Elevated outside play area has greenhouse panel roof
allowing light with shade.
All Cats like to exercise, or just relax in the fresh air, even in the cold
of winter.

holes,
Sliding front doors for access to clean litter boxes, and let cats have

If you breed and sell Bengals within 300 miles of me, do not be upset that people from your home town are
driving to my home to buy a kitten(s).
These may be some of the reasons why.....
There is no odor inside my home, or outside!
Kittens run to see who has come to visit.
Kittens are healthy and very well socialized, and beautiful.
My outside cats come to greet me when they see me coming. They are clean and friendly, no odors there either.
The entire area is clean, free of derbies and clutter.
To me, it is important to enjoy my cats and kittens with potential buyers.
I spend on average $400. per month on extra things, Power washer for cleaning; new rugs and toys; things to make life for myself and my cats more pleasant. I feel that quality time at home is much more important than going to cat shows nearly every weekend .
I show occasionally.
The words
"campaigning my cat" are used with regularity at cat shows. I was never into playing political games.
If you have unlimited funds and your cats are just for fun, not for profit, then running and playing every weekend may be more important for you. That is wonderful. It educates the public about Bengal temperament and what they look like.
If you want to breed and sell kittens, and you do have unlimited funds, you might want to hire a successful, experienced cat breeder / consultant to offer care guidelines for you cats left at home.
I go to enough shows so people can see my cats are top of the line, in looks,
health, genetics and purrr-sonality.
I prefer to stay home and cuddle with my kittens,
and entertain people from all walks of
life.
