heading south to warm up... in Florida

(after the fairytale ended I can admit Tom was red from drinking not from the sun)
(but he was so romantic I overlooked the drinking, until it got verbally aggressive...
then I was out of there)

Tom & Holly LYNN, winter 2008

butterflies in the flowers ... how beautiful ... this was in Busch Gardens.

Busch Garden free flight bird cage had lots of beautifully colored and interactive birds.

I especially enjoyed the animal show. it has nearly a dozen house cats trained to act in the show :-) along with dogs and birds and a few exotic species like aunt eaters :-)

it is GREAT to show people how you actually can train cats. at one point about 6 black and white cats jumped out of boxes and ran through doorways into a wrecked ship setting.  another large tabby climbed up a steep pole and jumped down into the arms of his trainer. another cat walked circles between the trainers legs while she walked.... I have had a few cats do this trick :-)

visiting Doug in Tampa Bay

Doug has been part of Tom's life for many years. That makes Doug now part of my life too.  Doug lives here when he comes up to visit his family.
Doug is a wonderful gentle man, a great cook,  good looking and he spoils my cats a bunch :-)
his kids and grand kids like visiting uncle Tom and playing with my kittens.

lunch and photos at one of  Doug's favorite spots
'Jack Willies', where you can often see manatees and where the storks help eat your fries...          P.S. Doug is single :-)

we did nto feed the pelicans and we didn't see Manatees
but it was nice and warm so we enjoyed the lookout point

on to the cruse

Royal Caribbean's Legacy of the sea... over 14 stories of food pools bars and fun.
Tom and I danced between the pools. Tom danced with other ladies too. He is a Great dancer!

WOW... the food never ended, a carved watermelon

 we enjoyed dressing for dinner

Lots of chef's to make 80,000 meals each week

a healthy leisurely breakfast with a view!

on one of the islands

this was one of the most fun days..
Tom and I played in the warm clean salt water and just enjoyed each others company.

Professional stingray photos, click small images to enlarge

Ever thought of visiting Stingray City?

the water is bath warm and so clear the white sand and schools of stingray are easy to see.
So many people... Stingray everywhere... they are very gentle fish.
You can hold them and they do not swim away.
they have a mouth like a vacuum and suck treats out of your hand.

locals are making a bundle taking up out to see and touch the stingray.
We paid for their photo package which should arrive in April or May!

this was one of the places the Royal Caribbean stopped to let us off.

this is the view Tom and I want for out back yard !

The man was one of the guides. He held the HUGE stingray, about 4 foot across female fish, and handed it to each of us for photos. We are waiting to get out photos... will put them up in April or May :-)

After we headed home the boat stopped. this man snorkeled in the shallow water collecting Conch. He removed the snails from the shells and said it would be his dinner. We were offered the empty shells but were told it was nto legal to bring them into Miami port...

The water wave was from the engines in back of the boat where Tom and I sat.

These friends have a boat on the other side of Lake Michigan.
We hope to meet again this summer on the water.

Tom is good at picking up girls... He claimed these 2 were for our son JR. :o)

I kept a close eye on him though....

so did the bar tenders

our cabin attendant made towel animals. this was a  monkey hanging over our bed.
notice the mirror headboard with handrail :-) Tom said someone had a good imagination....

Tom usually gets up around 5 AM... sometimes he sleeps in with me until 7. Rarely I get up with him to see the sunrise :-)

It was not always sunny at dawn but always cleared up after a few hours.

We has a few days and nights of
50 MPH winds. I liked the rocking boat :-)

Tom caught this waterspout in the center of his photo one morning.

Lots to do on the ship...

we passed this 'art' on the way to our cabin. I think it is a statement about gas prices....
click to enlarge if you wish

one of the upper decks had a walking / jogging track that I used most mornings.
The girl in red never stopped! when winds were to strong she walked on the lower sheltered deck.

we saw a few beautiful sunrises... a lot of wind and clouds in the mornings too.
Still it was warm and got comfortably hot during the daytime.

a few days and nights of 50 MPH winds !
lots of people wore sea sick patches. I LOVED it... rocked me like a baby.... but not so great for posing :-)

Back off the ship.....

who but a northerner would take photos of semi loads of grapefruit and oranges???

this huge marble ball is supported only on water....

a good hair day :-) until after a few of the test drives in space ship simulators.
The 3 D movies of space training and the moon were GREAT!

this is from the inside of a blow up dome building. the door said to close tightly before entering the second door... It did Not say exhibit closed on the door we went into!!

what a view of the world.... pretty neat tent :-)

Before we married, one of Tom's dreams was to get into the space program. With a wife and baby he had to forget these dreams and start working. I still feel bad about Tom not continuing his education.  Tom tells me to stop beating myself up... He loved me then and now.

our last day in Florida we drove out the Florida Keys and walked Miami's famous South Beach.
Road construction and traffic prevented us from reaching the southern most point of  Florida.... Key West.
It was a beautiful drive but I napped in the car, tired from a late night.

We visited Lori and Lloyd of www.ZawiecoBengals.com
at their home in Palm City, FL.

They have a beautiful home with views of the waterways around 2 sides. This would be the ideal setting for Tom and my new home... with the fresh waterways leading to the Gulf and the Atlantic... the open countryside where the neighbors do not complain if a cat is in heat, and the occasional alligator in the back yard.

We enjoyed Bar B Q dinner on the back deck and conversation about housing in the area and how much they enjoy Florida. We watched a fox walk through the shadows as we ate and talked.  Lori and Lloyd are very luck to have a home in such a beautiful setting in Warm Florida.... I am very lucky to have such wonderful friends to welcome us into their home.

Lori has beautiful Bengals too :-)

Returning from the Keys, we  visited South Beach in Miami for a stroll on the boardwalk

Tom was hoping to find the famous part of South Beach where the girls go nude :-)  Lots of nice young bodies but all with some sort of covering.
When I started lifting my dress Tom said he had seen enough.

March 5, 2008 our first day home...

After plane delays and about 3 hours sleep...

we babysat a grand baby John. He is a very happy baby, only cried once!

Frangelica Cat enjoyed all the new smells and toys of the little visitor.
I laid down to nap in my bed beside the baby and he looked at me and started to cry... Yep, I still have it...

I cried too... Grandpa Tom came to the rescue.....

I did change his poopie diaper... without either of us crying.  I had to call my Mother. I knew she would get a laugh.... she knows how allergic I am to babies....

STILL SNOW PILED UP HERE IN ILLINOIS !
We did nto want to come back yet!!
I just went to an online auction and put in a bid for a house near Tampa....
No I don't expect to get a $250,000. home for 10%... but It makes me feel good to bid :-)
